Dungeon and Dragons baby plush dice pattern!

Ta-daaaa I finally found my pattern I had made up. Please credit the pattern to me if you decide to make these and share it.

ALSO please send me photos!!! I would love to see how someone else made out with these.

My advice.. don't make your own numbers.. buy them or.. draw them on.. or.. something. But it was painful cutting each one out and then sewing around them with a satin stitch.

I used this guys site CLICKY CLICKY on where to place the numbers but also how to contruct a 20 sided dice etc.

enjoy!!

Emotional Craft Binger

Today alot of things went very very very wrong. It's one of those days where you just go "Cheebus Sarah.. it would ONLY happen to you"

Sigh..

so what did I do? Did I eat my face full of chocolate? Did I eat an entire large pizza? Did a whole container of Hagen Daz go missing?

No. Because they weren't in my house. I almost MADE pizza.. but I op out and made soup!! I have never made soup.. and I kinda sorta followed a recipe.

Veggie.. lentil spicy tomato Yum.. yes.. that what it is called. Good kick to it.

Normally I bake when I am emotionally upset. I've been fairly high strung this last month between school and work and no surprise I have become a MASTER of pies! I've been having a total BLAST making them. I even bought a new pie top cutter!

Apple pie tomorrow me thinks...

Did I mention my toothbrush rug is finished?

My dog loves it.. so do I. We hang out on it sometimes. Just the two of us.

I also made a tea cozy today.. well finished it today. It's too small for my teapot.. so I will donate it to my mother to donate to her church sale.

It's based off a post from CluckCluckSew. The fabric used was taffeta which I used a lighter to seal the edges. Next time I might use a pinking sheer edge. My strips were 1 inch wide and I used a soup bowl for my measurements.

Seriously so easy to make!

I will make another.. but bigger..and better.. and then make a pillow.. and then make another pillow... and then... BINGE CRAFTING!!!!

Toothbrush rugs and Bobo

Have I mentioned how much I love my dog? He's been through so much with me. My partner and I decided when we moved back to Canada he was a must come as well.. expensive world traveled mutt.

Please meet Bobo.

When I was in England I went to a few Craft Mafia sessions in Manchester where I met a girl who was making a toothbrush rug. I ended up running into her when the Knitting noras aka the naked Calendar girls were doing an exhibition at the Turn Pike gallery.

I ended up however doing a braided rug.

WARNING : RUG crafts take a long time. I kid you not.

The braided or plaited rug nearly killed me.

Please see my tutorial for one here----> CLICKY CLICKY

My dog.. managed to destroy this within 6 months.. he literally wouldn't lie anywhere else.

This rug I've been using my scraps from various projects.

My boyfriend made me a tool after I met that girl in England!! From my old toothbrush!

So I put it on the floor to take a picture.. and went and got my camera... guess who found it....

Well.. we'll see how long this one lasts for...

Chocolate Pumpkin Pie and Hula Hooping dogs.

Happy World Hoop day yesterday and Happy Thanksgiving today!! I got my dog to hoop for world hoop day :p

video

Yesterday I had dinner at my friends house with all her friends. My part was to make pie. I had a bunch of pastry from last week and decided to make two pies. Since there was a massive can of pumpkin I thought I'd do two of them.
ONE was chocolate pumpkin! I just added 3 tablespoons of cocoa and an extra 1/4 cup of sugar ( to combate the bitterness of cocoa )

It was delicious!!!

The secret to a pie

This year the apple tree out back has finally come back after some TLC from my dad. He pruned it at the end of last year and this spring tended to it again.
Years ago when my neighbour Ken was still alive he was a bee keeper and kept orchard bee's. If you haven't heard of these little guys and have always fantasized about keeping bee's these are fairly easy to manage and if you have any fruit trees in your yard you'll be amazing just what a difference they can make.
Here's a beautiful example of one that someone made : Clicky clicky here
My birth mother and her husband used an old piece of wood and he drilled holes into it and then installed it under the shed's eaves to provide shelter from the rain. They have had a great time watching them through the seasons and love the fact that they are the first bees out and pollenate all their fruits and vegetables.

ANWAYS so long story short.. we had good apples this year! A few weeks ago I went went a-wandering with my pooch

..and I picked blackberries and then picked some apples in the backyard.. and had this BRILLIANT idea to make pie. I have never made a pie before but figured.. how hard can it be?

I found a recipe in my humble but good enough book collection (which I look at once every three months when I'm bored rarely do I use them I'm affraid)

One recipe said shortening or butter. So.. I went to the store and tried butter. I found it was really dry when I made the crust.. it burned and it was super flakey. I wasn't very impressed.. the bottom seemed ok.

The next pie I bought a bunch of pears and used an old recipe of my mothers for the filling and used the crust recipe again thinking because I had used my kitchen aid maybe that was the problem. I mean.. butter makes EVERYthing taste better? Am I right folks? Certainly it was the key ingrediant??

The topping on this pear pie recipe of my mothers doesn't use a pie crust topping. Instead it was more of a crumble on top. I also bought too many pears and didn't chop them up very well. It told me not to in the recipe and even though my gut feeling was the pears were bigger then the ones that were for purpose intended.. I did it anyways.

the pie was ok.

I took a pie vacation for a few weeks and I had a AH-HA moment walking through the leaves last week. Years ago when gray hair was a mere myth, I was a care taker for a little old lady who had made plently of pies in her life time. Too old to stand alone without her walker I often just "held" her (stand beside or behind her in case she fell) whilst she made pies. SHE LOVED making pies, buns..whatever. The AH-HA moment was when I recalled her telling me "LARD iz the secrat"( she was french )

Lard.. Well I did try lard with the next one and got vegetable shortening for this last one... and guess what? PERFECT pie crust.

LARD is the secrat! Or veggie shortening.

I just followed the recipe on the container and made a milk/egg glaze. The glaze you put on the fruit pie and let it sit for 45 mins or so before you put in the oven and about half way through the baking time give it another sweep for a beautiful golden brown look.

Also I have been messing with the filling. My latest one:

5 large apples
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
4 tbsp flour
1/2 cup flavoured yogurt (peach is good with apples :) )

IF you feel your pie still needs to cook but your crust is burning, but a piece of tin foil over top to prevent it from browning or burning.

REMEMBER fruit pies like to sit for a while ( an hour ish) especially berry pies after coming out of the oven. This allows the juices to settle or you might encounter runny pie juices and all the pie filling will fall out into the opening when you take that first piece out.

Savvy?

Scrabble pendants.. sweetness

Finally another craft army happened. It's feels like it was only yesterday I was scrambling to get the bath bombs together.. how does this happen so slow yet so fast? Summer? Pffffft what summer? It's like october folks! I gotta get a grip here and neck some more Vitamin D.

Aaanyways.. It's been a busy few months and a crazy week. My ironing board and TV/sewing/dining table has sat in the same state for the past few weeks. The quilt blocks are starting to feel neglected me thinks.

I had the pleasure of gathering 12 of my crafty friends and taking over my work place the other night to try out scrabble, domino and glass tile pendants. If you haven't tried this easy but fun craft-bit you simply must try. Several of the girls stopped by/email/facedbook'd me to find out the resin the day after. Christmas is LESS then 90 days away.. yikes! Suddenly all my fall gifts might be shifted to christmas gifts. hahaha. Oh well.

here's what Craft Army night looked like this month.

peace and scissors..
